1.  What does it mean to have "trained" an athlete?
Unfortunately, in the fitness and sports performance industry, this has become a vaguely defined word and is
used loosely in many marketing pages.  The term "trained" was originally designed to mean that not only was
an athlete coached, or a specific program implemented by the person "training" the athlete, but that also the
program was designed and written by  person "training" the athlete.  Program design and implementation are
two separate skills, each of which needs to be perfected through continuous study and experience.  The
'magic' of what happens in the weight room is a product of both design and implementation, with design being
the more important of the two.  To truly "train" an athlete, we feel that both of these must be done by the same
person.  At Finish First Sports Performance, if we say we've trained someone or some team, then we were in
control of the program design and the implementation strategy.

2.  Are you one of those businesses that has actually "trained" athletes from the teams on
your list, or are you like most of the other performance coaches/businesses that just
happened to be in the weight room while the athletes(s) were in there?  I mean, were you
writing the programs or merely implementing the program for someone else?
We only implement our own programs, or we don't claim to have "trained" an athlete.  If we were just merely
helping to implement someone else's program with an athlete or team, then we just chalked that time up to
experience and our own personal growth.  You will find no gimmick marketing here!  If we didn't write the
program, we won't tell you about it.

3.  How do I cut through all the fluff coaches that don't have true experience in
programming for athletes?
You need to be extra careful with the fluff on the internet or in different marketing pieces today.  One of our
favorite ways to cut through the 'all hype' coaches is to speak with the athletes that are a product of the
specific coach's training system.  Ask for references, and contact them.  Go over the coach's list and ask for
check to see where some of these athlete's were when the coach claims to have trained him/her.  If a coach
claims to have trained a superstar college football athlete and the coach (making the claim) was a volunteer
assistant at the university, then the coach was NOT training the athlete.  He or she was merely implementing
the program designed by the real coach and therefore should not be claiming the superstar college football
athlete as one of his/her products.  If the coach lies once, he/she is a liar.  It's best to move on and find
someone else.  It is very important to do your research wisely before choosing a sports performance company
to help you reach your goals!

4.  What training methods do you use with the athletes?  Why?
Here at Finish First Sports Performance, we use a multitude of performance training methods to help each
athlete achieve his/her desired results.  We feel that in order to best train any athlete, we must be flexible in
determining the best method relative to each specific athlete's needs (sport, time of year, strengths,
weaknesses, imbalances, specificity, fitness levels, etc.).  To restrict ourselves to one sport training method
would not produce optimal results for each athlete, especially as one progresses towards obtaining sport
mastery.  As an athlete adapts to one specific method of training, either modifications need to be made to that
method to continue to produce results, or another method may be utilized.  Again, since every athlete is
unique, by having multiple training methods in our coaching arsenal we are able to assist each athlete in
attaining better results.

5.  Are your coaches certified?  Do they have a college degree from an accredited 4 year
program?
Our coaches are either certified, or studying to take the CSCS certification exam.  The CSCS (Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist) Exam requires that a person must have a degree from a 4 year
accredited program before becoming fully certified.  All of our coaches are either current students (interns) or
have completed their degree programs in exercise science, physical therapy, athletic training, biomechanics,
kinesiology, or exercise physiology.

6.  If I want to join the program, but cannot afford it, can I get a deal of any type?
We do not give any deals to anyone.  If we did, it would be unfair and unethical.  We do, however, provide
results, cutting edge customized programs, and great service.  If you are interested in financial assistance,
check out our
Scholarship Fund (coming soon).

8.  Do you have lockers and towel service?
We currently do not have lockers.  We have a restroom/changing room area and a place to store your
personal belongings.  We do provide towels for use during your exercise program.

7.  Do I have to have a card to check-in?
We do not currently have a card system to check-in.  In the future we may switch to one, but, for now, we just
have a paper and pen sign-in sheet.

8.  Do I have to commit to a regularly scheduled work-out time?
As our facility gets busier, we are asking all of our athletes to commit to a regularly scheduled work-out time.
This is the only way we can monitor and ensure that the facility does not become overcrowded.  Overcrowding
becomes dangerous and less than optimal for an efficient workout.  If you have not scheduled your regular
time yet, please
contact us to do so.

9.  Can I change my work-out time by phone?  By Email?
Yes, you can change your work-out time by phone.  If you do not reach a coach, leave a message and expect
a return phone call letting you know what other time(s) may be available.  You can also email us to let us know
you need to change your scheduled work-out time.  We will contact you either via phone or return an email to
let you know what other time(s) may be available.  Our training contracts require a minimum of 24 hours
notice for any changes.  However, we understand that practice schedules may change last-minute.  Please
understand that we cannot guarantee a replacement time for same day schedule changes.

10.  How do I bring a guest?
You can bring a guest to observe your workouts at any time.  The guest, however, must remain off the gym
floor and in the viewer's area only.

11.  How do I make payments?
You may pay over the phone via credit card or in person at the facility (check, cash, or credit) when payment
is due.

12.  How long are the scheduled workouts?
Workouts are scheduled for one hour unless otherwise specified by a coach.

13.  Are there any exercises I should be doing at home on my off days?
As a result of your evaluation, you may be asked to do additional workouts at home (or another facility) on
your off days.  These may include corrective exercise workouts, full performance workouts, or core workouts
specific to your needs.  Any additional workouts given to you are required to be completed.  These are
designed to help you progress at the rate necessary for attaining the specific goals you presented to us.  If
your goals are unrealistic, we will inform you and help you with realistic goals during your initial consult.
