Foam Roller Sequence

Use Foam Rollers to Better Prepare Your Body to Exercise AND to Reduce Your Risk of Injury



Every successful professional sports organization and athletic performance training company understands the value of using a foam roller to "self-massage" the body prior to a dynamic warm-up, which is done prior to exercise or sports competition.


But, are you using one? Do you need to know how to?

These rollers have become so popular that it would be difficult to enter any major college weight room and not find any-because research and hands-on results have proven that they are an effective tool for something called "self myofascial release."


Self myofascial release is simply a physiology term for self massage of the fascia system of the human body.


Sound complicated? Well, it really isn't that complicated, but if you are not concerned with how it works--just understand that it does work, and learn how to use this inexpensive tool to optimize athletic performance!


Expert coaches and therapists recommend to begin using rollers for 20-30 seconds per body area, or some have suggested 1-2 minutes per side of the body.


Use a rolling technique, placing as much of your body weight on the roller as you can tolerate. When you find a really sensitive area or trigger point, stop and let your weight apply pressure for 30-45 seconds before continuing to roll the area.


If pain exists beyond what you can tolerate, you should stop and may want to seek expert or medical advice.
