Sports Psychology Trains the Mind to Prepare for Success

Sports Success Key: Mental Preparation

Athletes today need to balance the stressors of life with the stressors of his/her sport and be able to handle the pressures of success and of failures or temporary defeats and setbacks.

Mental preparation, derived from the field of sports psychology, is the key to preparing or "unlocking" the mind to achieve success.

Mental preparation is training the mind for successful performance.

"What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve."
--Napoleon Hill

Some of the components important in mental preparation include motivation, arousal, energy management, goal-setting, imagery, relaxation and energization, attention, stress management, self confidence, and mental toughness.

These are components that can be addressed by a sports psychologist, or an experienced and well educated sports performance coach, performance scientist, or sports coach.

Sports Psychology is a field of specialists that deals with helping athletes maximize performance by managing emotions and minimizing the psychological effects of injury or poor performance (Wikipedia: Sports Psychology).

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
Christian Hanson of the Leafs"Coach Jeremy Hoy and Finish First is one of if not the main reason I am where I am today. If it were not for his sport-specific training programs, I could only have dreamt of making it this far. Any athlete who has any aspirations of making it to the next level is foolish to not train with Finish First. Regardless of your current skill, going anywhere else to train is a waste of time, money and talent."
